Ambleside Care Home and Equal Arts, June - October 2023 

‘Tea always tastes better in the Garden’ is a project in a care home setting for those with dementia and Alzheimers, exploring outdoor spaces, gardens, senses and memories. Every week residents work collaboratively to help design the actual garden at the home, with residents happily sit painting portraits of the vegetables and flowers the wish to grow whilst I make the planters, benches and tables needed in the garden out of reclaimed wood. 

Each week we explore a different aspect informed by the previous weeks session, incorporating all elements of design for the garden including planting plans, furniture and infrastructure as well as creating artworks around these ideas to bring more of the garden into the home.
