Part of an ongoing series that explores the balance of memory, material, colour and adoration for landscapes, real and imagined. The term 'Fell' is Cumbrian dialect for the expanses of high, uncultivated, common grazing land where the artist grew up. The 'Fells' are embedded in their memory and though they no longer live there they continue to carry their shapes and textures in these pieces. The imagined landscapes depicted are conjured up from a variety of sources, art historical references, social media, books and magazines. The resulting works are of no specific place in particular but being informed by lots of places act as an invitation for the viewer to recall their own landscapes, real or imagined. Focusing on texture alongside colour as well as disrupting bombastic human proclamations of 'capturing nature'. Colours are informed by record sleeves, art historical paintings, social media and fashion with a preference for vibrant contrasts due to the artists colour deficiency.
