IT’S THE RIGHT SORT OF CARROT 

Equal Arts x Ambleside Care Home 
May - June 2025 

Working with the residents of a care home to make collaborative wooden sculptures for their garden.
Each week we focused on the question ‘what do you like about being outside?’ and shared stories about particular plants, animals, weathers and experiences.
Turning our conversations into drawings on scraps of wood that were tranformed into sculptures that are as tactile as they are visually stimulating.
Working with those with Dementia and Alzheimer’s can be complex, and I used wooden objects made by my grandad to prompt conversation amongst the group.
